Background
Diarrhea is one of the most common clinical diseases, characterized by symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Infections of the small intestine often present with watery diarrhea, whereas infections of the large intestine frequently involve bloody stools, among other varied symptoms. It can be caused by multiple pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Bacterial pathogens are among the leading causes of diarrhea.
This product is intended for the qualitative detection of diarrheal pathogens in samples from patients with suspected diarrhea, including diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (DEC: enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC), Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC)/enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC), enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC)), Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp. / enteroinvasive E. coli (EIEC), Vibrio cholerae, and Campylobacter spp.This product can differentiate the above-mentioned 6 pathogens in the sample, but cannot distinguish the specific subtypes or strains of the pathogens.
